The population of the world is 7.7 billion today and this number is expected to rise to 11.2 billion in the next 80 years. The per capita food consumption is rising every year. Some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy and active life. Approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food gets lost or wasted each year. To add to it, the world has almost used all of its arable farm land.
